UK Lords want to prepare for the future with the Genomic Medicine -

The Technology Committee Room in the Parliament UK Lords science and came out with a new report on genomic medicine. The report is concerned with home-direct to consumer genetic tests and invites the U.K. government to produce a new "white paper" look how personalized medicine based genome will affect the National Health Service.

The report also calls for better regulation of the European Union on the conduct of clinical trials, a source of frustration for many researchers. According to a statement by Rory Collins, co-director of Trial Service Unit clinic of the University of Oxford: "The Directive on EU clinical trials is a serious obstacle to important medical research and, accordingly, night to patients in the UK and elsewhere in Europe. I strongly support the recommendation that the government should review the implementation in the UK of the Directive on clinical trials and the EU should work closely with the European Commission to revise the directive to make it less obstructive to the research. in making these changes, as also recommended by the Lords, it is essential that the government involves researchers who have experience in conducting successful clinical trials that have improved the effectiveness and safety of patient care, "
