25 days of fitness
During the holiday season, cold weather and cookies seasonal testing the will of even the most health guru disciplined. Studies show Americans gain an average of two pounds during the holidays. Shayna Frost, a dietitian with Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center, said in most cases, the extra weight tends to stick around the new year.
"The holidays and all the goodies that come with them can certainly present major obstacles to our diet and fitness routines healthy," she said. The threat begins in November.
"It is estimated that the average American consumes about 4,500 calories at Thanksgiving dinner. This could take the average of a person of 155 pounds about 20 days an hour of weight training, 10 days of hour, brisk walking or 5 or 6 days of time running to burn, "says Frost. when we burn this weight off Thanksgiving, we get hit again with the December holidays. Very soon we could find ourselves in the spring still holding our holiday weight. "
