awareness of mental health

When you enter a room, you can observe people on the surface. You can see the tired eyes, a smile or frown, and perhaps hear a sneeze or cough. What is not obvious is the mental state. The mental state can not be objectively measured, such as blood pressure or weight. For these and other reasons, mental health is often under-recognized, undiagnosed, and even stigmatized in society today.

This month and throughout the year, we strive to promote awareness and recognize the presence of mental health in our world. Last year, Mental Health America celebrated B4Stage4, educate people about the different stages of mental illness and encourage all to reach before stage 4 (the most severe stage). This year their theme is "Share #mentalillnessfeelslike," asking you to say and share your views on mental health. We will work together to reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness this month and next!

the national Alliance on mental illness also request your story and said. "You are not alone" While we should always be aware of mental health and its importance, this month gives us a time to get together and be strong. Living with mental illness can be difficult for all concerned, including family and friends.
