What are you wearing this Friday, February 5? We hope it is red, in honor of the National Day Wear Red! Heart disease is the number one killer of women in the United States, causing deaths 1-3 each year. Wear Red National Day is celebrated every February to raise awareness of heart disease and inspire women to take charge of their heart health.

Understanding your risk factors such as high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol can help reduce your chances of developing heart disease. Symptoms of heart disease and heart attacks are different in each individual. Women have a higher risk of fatal cardiac events, since they may experience different symptoms. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle by eating healthy, staying active, and being aware of your family history are key to maintaining heart health.

Make sure the wear red Friday, February 5 to raise awareness of the prevalence of heart disease in women.
